Hello and welcome…

Hi 5KT 👋

It’s been a while, hasn’t it? We hope you are all okay, trying to keep yourselves busy and staying safe during this strange time.

First things first, please read the ‘Blogging Guidelines’ at the top of the page before you go any further.  (If you’re viewing this on a mobile phone or tablet you may need to click on MENU to find these).

As you know, there is plenty of work on MyMaths, so if you haven’t been on there in a while then you know what to do. If you have forgotten your log in details, send an email to Mr Fairclough at mikef@westrise-jun.e-sussex.sch.uk and he will arrange for those to be sent to you asap.

We would also like you to log into Twinkl at https://www.twinkl.co.uk/home-learning-hub where you will find a timetable of work to fill your days and these are updated daily!  The password code is: PARENTSTWINKLHELPS

In addition to this, after the Easter holiday we will set you a weekly activity based upon our Topic work.

At the bottom of each post you can add a comment, just click on ‘Leave a comment’ so we can stay in touch! Remember to use your initials only – DO NOT put in any full names or emails anywhere in your comment, and you can leave the ‘author’ and ’email’ details blank.

Your comments are added to the blog once we have read and verified them, which we will try to do at least once a day.

So, let’s get started…

Have a look at this lovely calendar (click to follow the link if it is difficult to see).  It gives you lots of suggestions of things you can do throughout April, to help you and those around you feel good.

Have a look at this lovely calendar that Mrs Lumby found for us (click to follow the link if it is difficult to see).  It gives you lots of suggestions of things you can do throughout April to help you and those around you feel good.
Looking at it got us thinking about which character traits you might have displayed while you’ve been at home?

Here they are, in case you’ve forgotten them:

kindness, gratitude, love of learning, respect, perseverance/resilience, teamwork

Click on ‘leave a comment’ at the bottom of this post to let us know which ones you’ve displayed and how.  Remember to use your initials only.

We are so looking forward to hearing from you. We miss you all lots!

Ms K, Mrs T and Miss S 🙂

    1. Hi JS, great to hear from you.
Really well done on getting on with your school work, while at home. There are many benefits to doing this: it will mean you find it easier to get back into the flow when we get back to school, it will also mean you haven’t lost your skills and it’s also good for structuring your day, say if you do some every morning.
Keep going and hopefully see you soon 🙂 Ms K, Mrs T, Miss S.

  2. Hi, it’s JS!
I am currently typing to you using a laptop at school!
At school at the moment we don’t have to do any work! We just get all the equipment out and play, which is super cool!
I hope you are all well.
I would like to hear from you soon!

    1. Hi E.M.H,
We are so happy to hear from you!
Your song sounds exciting! Perhaps when we are back at school you could perform it for us, if you want to?
We also hope that we can see each other soon. Until then, stay safe and take care, and let’s keep in touch on here or by email 🙂

I think it is very weird Mrs K because the person who lives opposite me has a blossom tree and my grass is covered with it.

  5. OL here (again) my birthday has been and gone, and I got some REALLY cool stuff!
I walk the dogs every day and there is a swan nesting by the bridge (which is padlocked, and has BARBED WIRE on it!) and I check on her nest everyday
Its tiresome, but one day, I’ll see little gaping beaks!🦢🦢o((>ω< ))o

    1. Hi OL,
It is so lovely to hear from you again!
We are glad you had a nice birthday 🙂
We have also seen some swans nesting. Aren’t their nests huge?!
One day you will see that her eggs have hatched! Do you know what a baby swan is called? Or how big the babies will be when they hatch? Perhaps you could find out some more about swans?
Well done for keeping up with MyMaths – we are proud of you!

  6. OL (again again) Yes! Baby swans are called cygnets! Swans are protected by the queen, and were eaten, nearly to the point of extinction before they were. Pretty cool huh?

    1. Hi OL,
We’re so excited you’ve seen the cygnets! They’re super cute and fluffy, aren’t they?! We would love if you emailed us some photos of the ones you have seen 🙂
Well done for helping out a friend by walking their dog. That’s a great thing to do, and also means you’re getting out and about each day, too, which is so important at this time.
      Keep up the great work!
